Plastic Crimewave Sound headline the Empty Bottle

Plastic Crimewave Sound (myspace) headline the Empty Bottle tonight, Tuesday, February 24. Also on the bill are Rabble Rabble (myspace) and Sugarfoot (myspace). $8, doors at 9 PM. 21+. (The Great Society Mind Destroyers [myspace] were originally scheduled — and are still listed various places on the net — but unfortunately cannot make it because of an accident.) We estimate Plastic Crimewave Sound should be going on around 11:30 PM. The Empty Bottle is at 1035 N Western Ave in Chicago (map).

Jim DeRogatis has a nice write-up on Steve Krakow/Plastic Crimewave/PCWS/this show in Friday’s Sun-Times.

Will Long Day 5

In Chicago? Need to get over holiday-induced cabin fever? Know that New Year’s Eve will inevitably disappoint? Head out tonight (12/30) to the Will Long Day annual anti-NYE dance party celebration at the Darkroom (2210 W Chicago Ave, Chicago – map): Adam Weg spins funk and soul and 9 PM; The Heaven Seventies play a set at 10 PM (their last performance until March 2009); and DJ Willy Joy [myspace] spins dance music starting at 11 PM. It’s a 21+ show, $7 at the door.

Totally unconnected to Loud Devices — except that our staff plan to make the scene!

Record release show — without the records

Well tonight’s Soft Targets show at the Mutiny was supposed to be the record release show for the new 45, but we still don’t have the records. (In fact, they still haven’t been pressed! Word from the plant, simply: “Seven-inches are backed up.”) We’ll let you know more when we know more, but hopefully we’ll have the vinyl soon. In the meantime, tonight’s free show happens as planned, there just won’t be any new records to buy. (But that means you’ll have more money for those frosty mugs of beer.)

One final caveat: the real Soft Targets are playing tonight at the Mutiny, 2428 N Western Ave; strangely, Tallahassee, Florida band (myspace), strangely also called the Soft Targets, will be playing an unrelated show just across the street from the Mutiny. Don’t be fooled! It is to the Mutiny that you want to go to see the real Soft Targets from Chicago.
